Rivoli Cinema originally opened in 1940 as a single auditorium with a capacity of 1,644 seats. In 1968 it was the first cinema in Australia to be converted to twin auditoriums, enabling cinema goers to choose which movie to watch.
Noted for its Art Deco architecture, the cinema underwent a $16 million redevelopment that included restoration of many of the ‘Art Deco’ elements throughout the existing building and major extensions including 6 additional cinemas, Gold Class lounge and a restaurant.
ATG Consultants provided all engineering services for the redevelopment and has a long history with works to the original cinema dating back to the early 80’s.
